China tops medal tally, India 35th

New Delhi, 1 August (HS). After the end of the fifth day of Paris Olympics, China is at the top of the medal table with 18 medals including 8 gold, 7 silver and 3 bronze.

Japan and France are in second and third place respectively. Japan has 15 medals (8 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze), while France has 25 medals (7 gold, 10 silver and 8 bronze).

Australia is fourth in the table with a total of 14 medals including 7 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze, while Great Britain is fifth with a total of 17 medals including 6 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.

India won its second medal at the Paris Olympics when Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh won bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed team event on Tuesday and are currently ranked 35th in the standings. The 33rd edition of the Summer Olympics began on Friday and will conclude on August 11.
