New Delhi: China usually keeps its arsenal hidden but this time it informed neighbouring countries before testing its ICBM. China first launched its intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), which has a range of 12,500 miles, travelled 800 miles in space and fell into the Pacific Ocean north of the Philippines' main island Luzon. This factor makes China's commitment to the no-first-use agreement on nuclear weapons highly questionable and the test of this ICBM has raised concerns in the West that it could deliver nuclear weapons.
According to available information, the ICBM with a dummy warhead was successfully tested at 8.44 am (China time) today and landed in the Pacific Ocean, China's Defense Ministry said. However, China's Xinhua news agency said it was a routine operation and the test also revealed a certain level of the weapon's working power. And the ICBM has achieved its expected feat.
Japan coast guard officials said they had received a warning from China on Monday that space debris could fall in three areas of the South China Sea and the Pacific Ocean north of the main island of Luzon in the Philippines, as well as in the South Pacific Ocean on Wednesday.
It is worth noting that China has so far carried out such experiments in Inner Mongolia without declaring it. But this time it was the first time that it launched its missile into the sea.
China had signed a first use treaty with the US regarding the use of nuclear weapons. But the US has rejected that treaty by supplying weapons to Taiwan. Earlier in 1980, the missile they tested had a range of 5000 km.
The range of this last experiment is more than 12,500 miles. That covers most of the eastern US. Naturally, the West, including the US, is concerned.
So America has 1770 A-bombs. Russia has 1710 A-bombs. While China will have 1000 A-bombs by 2030. The Pentagon says that this number can be said to be close to the missile war raids of both the countries.
There is no unbreakable relationship between Russia and China. Both are similar. That is why the West is worried.
