Child marriage prohibition awareness meeting will be held in 50 villages of four blocks: Kosi Lok Manch

Saharsa, 28 November (HS). On the call of Child Marriage Free India, Kosi Lok Manch organized awareness rally, candle march, affidavit and community meeting at the district, block and panchayat level. He said that under this campaign by Kosi Lokmanch, from 27th November to 10th December, through awareness meetings, candle march and affidavit in 50 villages of four blocks of the district, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Solar Bazaar Mahishi and Sattar Kataiya, its workers and Panchayat representatives, Anganwadi workers and Awareness campaign is being run with the cooperation of related government departments. He said that this year in the district two child marriages have been done through legal process and about two hundred marriages have been considered. Was stopped deliberately.

He said that this campaign will give impetus to the fight to eradicate child marriage. Kosi Lokmanch is a partner of Just Rights for Children, a nationwide coalition of more than 250 leading NGOs. We cannot fulfill this dream without making the country’s girls educated, empowered and self-reliant. Child marriage is the biggest obstacle in this. We welcome this decision of the Ministry to take all the parties together to prevent child marriage and implement the defense, protection and prosecution policy. It is a matter of pride for us at Just Rights for Children. Being a cooperative organization, the campaign was started in the district. It has now become a nationwide campaign.

A child marriage victim present at the program expressed satisfaction over the government’s resolve to end this crime. She said that due to the society’s negligence, many minor girls are thrown into the quagmire of child marriage. Certainly there has been an improvement in the mindset of the society but now this campaign of the government will further accelerate this change which will end child marriage forever in the coming years.
