Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh Durga Shankar Mishra said that under Operation Kanyakalp, there has been a historic improvement in the infrastructure facilities in schools in the last five years. Along with this, attractive learning material was made available for the students. Now the entire focus needs to be given to improving the quality of education.
The Chief Secretary said these things while presiding over the meeting of the Executive Committee of the Samagra Shiksha Uttar Pradesh Education for All Project Council on Monday.
He said that special campaigns should be run across the state to increase enrollment in council schools. All schools should be inspected from time to time and strict action should be taken against those who are negligent in their work. The children's exam results should be sent in soft copy on mobile from this session.
In the meeting, in-principle consent was given for the purchase of tablets by UP Desk or the department, the institution selected as PMU and PMC, for the purchase of 10,375 tablets for primary schools and 17556 tablets for 8778 upper primary schools in the annual action plan and budget of Samagra Shiksha 2023-24 and for the purchase of 23,736 tablets for 11,868 upper primary schools at the rate of Rs 10,000 per unit in the financial year 2024-25.
Similarly, smart classes will be set up in 3530 council upper primary and composite schools. In-principle consent was given for the procurement and installation of ICT labs in 1515 upper primary and composite schools to be done by the UPLC institution or department.
In the same sequence, the executive committee named Sritron India Limited as the implementing agency for setting up ICT labs in 92 government secondary schools and UP Electronics Corporation Limited for setting up smart classes in 280 government secondary schools. Under Samagra Shiksha Madhyamik, the proposal for purchasing discovery boxes for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and Puzzles and training teachers through IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat was approved.
Earlier, in the meeting, it was told that for the establishment of ICT labs and smart classes in government secondary schools, approval of Rs. 4 crore 36 lakh 80 thousand has been received from the Government of India for the establishment of 92 ICT labs approved in the year 2024-25 and Rs. 6 crore 72 lakh for the establishment of 280 smart classes. In 12 government secondary schools, where enrollment is between 250 to 700, at the rate of Rs. 6 lakh 40 thousand per school and in 80 such government secondary schools, where enrollment is between 100 to 250, approval has been received from the Government of India for setting up ICT labs at the rate of Rs. 4 lakh 50 thousand.
