Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that sports is not only a medium to keep a person healthy, but due to the government's policy in the interest of sports and players, it has also become a powerful medium to shape the future. The government is giving jobs on a large scale in UP Police as well as other government departments to the players of the state who have won medals at the global and national level. The government is strengthening the sports infrastructure in the interest of sports and players, and at the same time, it is also encouraging the players by giving them awards, appointments and full financial assistance.
Chief Minister Yogi was addressing the closing and prize distribution ceremony of the two-day state level senior prize money men's wrestling competition organized on the occasion of Nag Panchami at the fair premises of Gorakhnath temple on Friday. The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an excellent atmosphere for sports has been created in the country. Our players are taking sports to new heights. The government is trying to promote sports activities by giving every possible help to the players.
Referring to the Paris Olympics, the Chief Minister said that Neeraj Chopra has brought glory to the country by winning the silver medal in javelin throw and the hockey team has won medals in the Olympics for the second consecutive time. He said that the hockey team that won medals in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics was honored by the UP government in Lucknow. Hockey team's Olympic player, Lalit Upadhyay of UP has been appointed as Deputy SP in UP Police. Lalit Kumar has performed brilliantly in the Olympics this time too. While UP's player Rajkumar has made a significant contribution in defeating Spain with his brilliant performance in the medal match.
The Chief Minister said that sportspersons are being given respectable government jobs in UP. International hockey player Lalit Upadhyay, international cricket player Deepti Sharma, Parul Chaudhary in athletics and Arjun Deshwal in Kabaddi have been appointed as Deputy SP, Divya Kakran in wrestling and Vijay Kumar in judo have been appointed as Naib Tehsildar, Puneet Kumar in rowing, Prachi in athletics has been appointed as District Youth Welfare Officer and Arjun has been appointed as Passenger and Goods Tax Officer in the Transport Department.
