Patna, August 26 (HS). Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday inspected the under-construction eye hospital of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna and directed to expedite the remaining construction work.

During this, the Chief Minister went to the first floor and inspected the OPD, ward area, operation theatre room, general ward etc. Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department Pratyaya Amrit told the Chief Minister that this 154-bed eye hospital at a cost of Rs 188 crore will be unique in itself. There will be better facilities for the treatment of cornea and refractive, glaucoma, retina and ubia here. Better treatment of pediatrics and neuro ophthalmology will also be available here. 24-hour emergency facility will also be available in this hospital. This will be the largest eye hospital in the government sector in North-East India.

During the inspection, the Chief Minister said that the remaining construction work of this special hospital should be completed at a fast pace. After the completion of its construction, eye-related diseases will be treated in a special way, which will provide great convenience to the patients. The people of the state will get another option for better treatment of eye diseases in the form of this hospital. The Chief Minister also took information from the officials regarding the arrangements of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

During this, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Pratyaya Amrit, Secretary to the Chief Minister Anupam Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Director of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences Dr. Binde Prasad, Deputy Superintendent Dr. Manish Mandal along with other senior officials, officials of the Health Department and senior doctors of Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences were present.
