Chief Minister inaugurated the state's first digital library in Bilaspur

Shimla, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Minister Thakur Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated the state's first digital library in Bilaspur on Tuesday. This library has seating arrangement for 40 persons with various facilities. The Chief Minister also inaugurated the new building of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau Bilaspur constructed at a cost of Rs 1.67 crore.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said that 'the digital library will provide free reading material to the readers through touchscreen devices, servers and social media platforms. This library has been well organized with a smart management system using RFID technology. For the convenience of the readers, they will be issued ID cards, which will be required to be scanned to enter the library. He said that about 2,500 books of various types have been made available in the digital library, which includes NCERT and CBSE books from class 1 to 12 through offline medium. Additionally, college courses, competitive examinations and various educational books will be available to the readers in the digital library.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with the students in the digital library. On this occasion, the students expressed gratitude to the state government for integrating digital technology and using technology towards providing better civic amenities. Students told him that such improvements are enhancing their knowledge and learning experience. With the adjustment of technology, studies have now become more interesting. Praising the efforts of the state government to encourage the habit of reading and learning among the students, he said that facilities like state-of-the-art digital library will enhance their knowledge which will yield positive results in the future.

It is noteworthy that a large reading hall, an e-library, computer tablets, suitable furniture and other necessary facilities have been provided in the district library for the students. For security reasons, CCTV system has been installed in the library.
