Dehradun, 3 December (Hindu). Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami distributed old age pension through online mode to a total of 61 people who completed 60 years of age in the state on Tuesday at the Secretariat. This pension has been sent for the months of September and October this year.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Dhami said that due to simplification of the system of sanctioning old age pension, now our elderly people will be able to get the benefit of old age pension on time. He said that the state government has increased the old age pension from Rs 1200 to Rs 1500. Now both husband and wife can avail the benefit of old couple pension. He said that our aim is to extend the benefits of development and public welfare schemes of the government to the people standing at the last end of the society, for which continuous efforts are being made. He said that all the elderly people of the state are like his guardians, whom he will always be ready to serve.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi had described the third decade of the 21st century as the decade of Uttarakhand from the land of Baba Kedarnath. On which the state government is continuously working. Uttarakhand is continuously moving forward on the path of development. The state is performing best in every field. Uttarakhand came first in the list of sustainable development goals released by NITI Aayog. The unemployment rate has decreased in the state. The state has also performed better in ease of living. He said that in the last 3 years, about 19 thousand youth have been provided appointment in government departments. Efforts are on to rapidly fill all the vacant posts in the state.

On this occasion, Secretary of Social Welfare Department, Neeraj Khairwal said that between September 25, 2024 and October 15, 2024, the department will conduct a massive campaign in all the districts of the state to identify the people who have completed 60 years of age. to be done. 12 thousand such persons were identified by the department. Those who have completed 60 years of age on 1 October 2024 are eligible for pension. Apart from this, data was also collected of such persons who have completed 59 years 06 months of age and are eligible for old age pension. On this occasion, Additional Secretary Gaurav Kumar, Director and Commissioner Divyangjan Prakash Chandra and others were present. In fact, on the instructions of Chief Minister Dhami, for the first time in the state, old age pension is being sanctioned to the people of the state as soon as they complete 60 years of age. Now applications for old age pension can be uploaded on the pension portal of the Social Welfare Department even after completing 59 years and 6 months of age. After acceptance of the applicant’s form, the month in which the applicant will complete 60 years of age. Their old age pension will be started from the end of that month. With this, the elderly will be able to get the benefit of old age pension on time.
