Chief Minister approves Rs 56.84 crore for two new bridges | News India

Ahmedabad, September 9 (HS). Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to the allocation of Rs 56.84 crore for the construction of two new four-lane bridges in Gondal city. These two new bridges will be constructed near Panjrapol and Government Hospital Chowk of Gondal city under the flyover bridge of Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Urban Development Scheme at a cost of Rs 28.02 crore and Rs 28.82 crore respectively.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has given in-principle approval to allocate an amount of Rs 56.84 crore for the construction of two new bridges in Gondal city. With the construction of these two new bridges, vehicles going from Bhavnagar-Atkot to Junagadh and vehicles going from Ghoghavdar Movia to Junagadh and from Kotda to Jetpur-Junagadh will get the facility of four-lane bridge. Apart from these two new bridges, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has also approved an allocation of Rs 22.38 crore for the renovation of two existing bridges more than 100 years old from the monarchy period on the Gondli river. According to which, the existing bridge from Central Talkies to Government Dawakhana will be renovated at a cost of Rs 17.90 crore and Sardar Bridge near Panjrapol will be renovated at a cost of Rs 4.47 crore. Both these bridges will be kept open for light vehicles i.e. light motor vehicles. At the same time, drivers will be able to use the two newly constructed bridges for heavy vehicles and bypass traffic in the city. Chief Minister Patel has also given directions to build these two new four-lane bridges keeping in mind the existing population of Gondal, the surrounding villages and tehsil and district bypasses and the city traffic as well as the development in the coming years.

It is noteworthy that there was a lot of traffic pressure from Gondal and the surrounding villages and tehsils on the two bridges built during the monarchy on the Gondli river in Gondal city, which are more than 100 years old. After these old bridges were closed for heavy vehicles, only one route is available for diversion in their place, from National Highway 27 Gondal to Sureshwar Chowkadi. Not only this, during heavy rains, this route also gets closed due to overflowing of the weir cum causeway, due to which all vehicles have to face great difficulties.
