Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar reached Dehradun from Munsiyari by helicopter on Thursday morning after the emergency landing of the helicopter in the inaccessible area of ​​Pithoragarh district. Actually, CEC Rajeev Kumar was going to meet him by helicopter on Wednesday. Due to bad weather, his helicopter got stuck in Munsiyari, Pithoragarh. After which the pilot made an emergency landing in Ralam village in the high Himalayan region. A rescue operation was started to bring them out safely. Everyone is safe. After staying there overnight, the Chief Election Commissioner and Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand flew from Munsiyari by helicopter on Thursday morning and reached Sahastradhara Helipad in Dehradun around 11.40 am. Chief Electoral Officer Dr. BBRC Purshottam, ITBP Inspector General Sanjay Gunjyal, Sonika, City Magistrate and state election officials were present here. After staying for some time, the Chief Election Commissioner left for New Delhi directly by helicopter. The administration heaved a sigh of relief when the Chief Election Commissioner reached Munsiyari safely on Thursday morning. Along with him, four people including Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Uttarakhand Vijay Kumar Jogdande and CEC PSO Naveen Kumar were aboard the helicopter. After the emergency landing, the officials informed Dehradun through satellite phone. High officials spoke to the Central Chief Election Commissioner over phone. The officials heaved a sigh of relief after getting information that he was safe. Roads, electricity and communication services are not available in Ralam village. At present there are no people in the village as the villagers have returned to the lower areas with the onset of winter.

Pithoragarh District Magistrate Vinod Giri Goswami said that four people including Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, Additional Chief Election Officer of Uttarakhand Dr. Vijay Kumar Jogdande were aboard the helicopter. Everyone reached Malam village late at night with the rescue team after 12 hours. In Ralam, the Chief Election Commissioner was staying in a house with all the people. Everyone is safe. He told that 48 rescue teams were deployed for the track from two different routes, Milan and Patu. On Thursday, when the weather became fine, the pilot took all the people by helicopter to Munsiyari helipad. After this he left for Dehradun by helicopter. ITBP jawans, medical team and villagers of Pantu village were present with food, medicines and other essential items.
