Chhindwara, 27 September (HS). Jabalpur Lokayukta Police on Friday arrested a clerk posted in the BEO office located in Tamia development block of Chhindwara district red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. The accused clerk had demanded a bribe from a teacher in exchange for withdrawal of PF fund, after receiving which the Lokayukta team carried out the action in a planned manner.
Lokayukta DSP Dilip Jharbade said that Bamhani's primary teacher Baliram Bharti had to withdraw Rs 8 lakh 85 thousand from the PF fund. When the amount was not released, he contacted Assistant Grade 3 Satish Tiwari posted in the Education Officer office of Tamia Development Block. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 30 thousand in exchange for withdrawal of money, after which the matter was settled for Rs 28 thousand. Teacher Baliram Bharti complained about this in the Lokayukta office. After receiving the complaint, the Lokayukta police team took the first installment of bribe of Rs 10,000 and sent the applicant to the BEO office and as soon as he gave the money, the Lokayukta team raided and caught the accused clerk Satish Tiwari red-handed taking Rs 10,000. Action is being taken against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
