New Delhi/Raipur 18 July (HS). Chhattisgarh dominated the 'Spark' awards presented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, in New Delhi today for its excellent work in empowering urban poor families and increasing their livelihood opportunities. The state received five awards in various categories. Three cities of the state were awarded the first prize in their respective categories, one urban body was awarded the second prize and Chhattisgarh was awarded the third prize in the entire country in the state level awards. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and Minister of State Tokhan Sahu distributed these awards at a ceremony organized at the India Habitat Center in New Delhi. A team of 20 officials and beneficiaries from Chhattisgarh received these awards on behalf of their respective bodies.
Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana
Bilaspur Municipal Corporation was awarded the first prize in the country in the population category up to ten lakh under the prestigious 'SPARK 2023-24' awards given by the Government of India for excellent work in the National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY-NULM). At the same time, Raigarh Municipal Corporation was awarded the first prize in the country in the population category up to three lakh and Bhatapara Municipality in the population category up to one lakh. Champa Municipality got the second prize in the population category up to 50 thousand. Chhattisgarh was awarded the third prize in the country for the best work in the National Urban Livelihood Mission.
Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has congratulated the team of SUDA and the four urban bodies as well as the people of the state for this achievement which has made the state proud. Chief Minister Sai said that this award given by the Government of India is a matter of honor for the state. Under the National Urban Livelihood Mission, assistance is being provided to urban street vendors along with self-employment and skill development. Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Saw has also congratulated SUDA and the urban bodies selected for the award. He said that the National Urban Livelihood Mission is a mission committed to the economic and social empowerment of women and youth. Chhattisgarh is continuously performing well in this mission.
Sumit Kisku of Jashpur Nagar Palika and Kushal Ram Sahu of Lormi Nagar Panchayat, nominated beneficiaries of PM Swanidhi Yojana by Chhattisgarh Government, also participated in the ceremony organized in New Delhi to highlight good work in empowering urban poor families and increasing their livelihood opportunities. Mridula Jain of Happy Mahila Self Help Group of Jagdalpur Municipal Corporation, Chitrarekha Sahu of Radha Rani Self Help Group of Bhilai Municipal Corporation, City Mission Manager Ekta Sharma and Sant Kumar Mahato, nominated as beneficiaries of National Urban Livelihood Mission, also participated in the ceremony on behalf of Chhattisgarh.

The third prize received by Chhattisgarh was received by SUDA (State Urban Development Agency) Deputy Chief Executive Officer Sunil Agrahari, State Mission Manager Vivek Shukla and Prashant Amoli in the award ceremony organized at India Habitat Center, New Delhi. Bilaspur Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar, Raigarh Municipal Corporation Commissioner Sunil Chandravashi, City Mission Managers Kedar Patel and Shubham Sharma, Bhatapara Municipality Chief Municipal Officer Lal Ajay Bahadur Singh and City Mission Manager Neeraj Sahu and Champa Municipality Chief Municipal Officer and Assistant Collector Durga Prasad Adhikari and Bhola Singh Thakur received the award on behalf of their respective bodies. Union Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry Secretary Anurag Jain, Joint Secretary and NULM and PM Swanidhi Managing Director Rahul Kapoor, PM Swanidhi Director Shalini Pandey and NULM Director Sunil Kumar Yadav were also present at the award ceremony.
