Raipur, 4 September (HS). Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai while talking to journalists at the residence office on Wednesday said that Chhattisgarh has received approval for 8 lakh 46 thousand 931 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana from the Government of India. He called it a big achievement for the state and said that this will help millions of poor families to fulfill their dream of having a roof over their head.
The Chief Minister said that in the last five years, more than 18 lakh poor families of Chhattisgarh were deprived of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana because the then government did not deposit the 40 percent state share required for this scheme. Due to this, the rights of these poor families were snatched away. Chief Minister Shri Sai said that “Our government took oath on 13 December 2023 and the very next day on 14 December, in our first cabinet meeting, 18 lakh Pradhan Mantri Awas were approved. Arrangement for the state share was also made immediately.
The Chief Minister informed that in the budget of the new financial year, Chhattisgarh has received approval for 8 lakh 46 thousand 931 Pradhan Mantri Awas from the Government of India, which includes 6 lakh 99 thousand 331 houses under SECC 2011 and 1 lakh 47 thousand 600 Awas Plus. The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this important achievement and said that “I thank the Prime Minister very much on behalf of the three crore people of Chhattisgarh and especially all the people who have benefited from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma and Durg MLA Gajendra Yadav were present on this occasion.
Along with this, Chief Minister Sai also mentioned the Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana and said that for the special backward tribes, who are also called the adopted sons of the President, 24 thousand 64 houses have been approved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many of which have been completed. The Chief Minister said that from January till now, 1 lakh 99 thousand Pradhan Mantri Awas have been constructed and as per Modi's guarantee, the construction of 18 lakh houses will be completed in a timely manner.
The Chief Minister also said that under the Niyaad Nelanar Scheme “Aapka Achcha Gaon”, a demand has been made to Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for sanctioning more than 10 thousand additional houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the Naxal-affected and surrendered Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, which is expected to be approved soon.
