Eight people were killed and another person was injured when lightning struck Chhattisgarh's Rajnandgam district on Monday. Some school children were also among the dead, police officials said.
Police officials said that eight people, including some school children, were killed and another person was injured when lightning struck in Joratarai village under Somani police station area of the district at around 1.30 pm today.
Rajnandgaon district's Superintendent of Police Mohit Garg said that according to preliminary information, eight people including some school children have died due to lightning. Apart from this, one person is reported to be injured, who has been admitted to the hospital. He said that as soon as the information of the incident was received, senior administrative and police officers reached the spot. According to the Superintendent of Police, he and the District Magistrate of Rajnandgaon also reached the spot. He said that detailed information of the incident is awaited.
