Jammu, August 22 (HS). Jammu and Kashmir Charitable Trust in collaboration with Sanatan Dharm Sabha and Dharmik Yuvak Mandal is going to organize a grand Rath Yatra on August 24 on the auspicious occasion of Shri Krishna Janmashtami. Addressing media persons at the Trust's central office in Jammu, Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Charitable Trust Brigadier R.S. Langeh (Retd) said that in this much-awaited event, devotees and enthusiasts from all corners of Jammu region will gather to offer prayers on the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The Rath Yatra will promote the feeling of unity among the devotees as well as provide a platform for spiritual knowledge and cultural enrichment.
He said that the Sri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations will begin with an impressive Rath Yatra in which beautifully decorated chariots carrying the idols of Sri Krishna and Radha will be taken around the streets of the temple town. The procession will include enthusiastic participants both young and old who will spread the message of love, compassion and harmony by singing devotional songs and chants. The Trust Chairman informed that the Shobha Murti Pujan ceremony is scheduled to be held on August 24 at 3:30 pm at Sri Raghunathji Mandir, Jammu. This will be followed by Rath Pujan and Dhwaj Hoisting Ceremony starting at 4:00 pm.
He also thanked Sanatan Dharm Sabha, Dharmik Yuvak Mandal, District Administration Jammu and Police Department for providing necessary support for the smooth conduct of the Rath Yatra. Trust Secretary Ashok Kumar Sharma (IPS Retd) informed that this year the Shobha Yatra will follow the traditional route with some changes. The Rath Yatra will start from the historic Shri Raghunathji Temple and pass through various markets including Veer Marg – Shahidi Chowk – Rajinder Bazaar – Kanak Mandi – City Chowk – Old Hospital Road – Old Mandi – Link Road – Jain Bazaar – Chowk Chabutara – Pakka Danga – Moti Bazaar – Geeta Bhawan – Ranveereshwar Temple – Shalamar Road – City Chowk and Raghunath Bazaar and finally culminate at Shri Raghunathji Temple.
