Involvement of ‘Chhangur Baba’
Jalaluddin alias Chhangur Baba is considered to be the mastermind of this syndicate.
Modus Operandi: He was active in remote villages of Uttar Pradesh and parts of Maharashtra. He used to gather people under the guise of ‘Changai Sabha’ or ‘Healing Centre’ and then inspire them to convert to religion.
ED action: The Enforcement Directorate (ED), which is probing the money laundering angle in this case, has already collected information about his assets worth crores and he is currently in judicial custody.
