New Delhi. The direct impact of the ongoing turmoil in the global market is being seen on the Indian bullion market. Gold prices continued to fall on the morning of Friday, March 20, 2026, causing panic among investors and buyers. In the capital Delhi, the price of 24 carat gold has fallen to Rs 1,50,420 per 10 grams. It is noteworthy that just a day ago, a huge fall of Rs 7,000 (4.37%) was recorded in the price of gold in Delhi market.
Why is the shine of gold breaking?
According to market experts, there are three major global reasons behind this huge fall in gold prices:
Inflation concerns: There is an atmosphere of uncertainty among investors regarding rising inflation across the world.
Strict stance of central banks: Strict decisions of central banks regarding policy rates (interest rates) have affected the demand for gold.
Crude Oil: The rise in crude oil prices in the international market has also changed the equations of precious metals. Internationally, spot gold is currently trading at $ 4,678.69 an ounce.
Condition of metro cities: Gold becomes cheaper from Mumbai to Kolkata
Parity is being seen in the prices of 22 carat and 24 carat gold in major cities of the country. In metros like Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, the rate of 24 carat gold remains stable at Rs 1,50,270 per 10 grams. At the same time, the price of 22 carat (jewelry gold) in these cities is Rs 1,37,740 per 10 grams.
