Change in timetable of government schools due to extreme heat in Himachal, order issued


Shimla, May 20 (HS). It is extremely hot this time in Himachal Pradesh. The temperature in many plain districts of the state remains above 40 degrees Celsius. Heat wave is going on in many places. Keeping in view the harsh nature of summer, the timetable of summer government schools of Himachal has been changed. Now these schools will open at 7:30 am and will be dismissed at 1 pm. An order in this regard has been issued by the Education Department.

According to the order issued by Director Higher Education Dr. Amarjeet Kumar Sharma, for the last few days, there is severe heat wave in Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Kangra along with BBN of Solan and Nahan and Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district. The mercury has reached 45 degrees in these areas. Because of this, school students of these areas are facing problems. School Management Committees (SMC), PTAs and parents have informed the Education Department about the problems faced by the children. In view of this, the new timetable in summer schools will be from 7:30 am to 1 pm. The order also states that there will be two drinking breaks in schools during school timings, so that children can keep themselves refreshed. Deputy Directors of Education of the districts will have to implement these orders with immediate effect.

Heat wave hits nine cities including Una, Hamirpur, yellow alert of extreme heat till May 24

Life has been affected due to severe heat in Himachal Pradesh. There is an outcry due to heat in the plains. During the day people are avoiding coming out of their homes and are listening to the markets. The maximum mercury remains above 40 degrees Celsius in seven cities of the state.

According to the Meteorological Department, heat wave occurred in nine cities yesterday. These include Una, Hamirpur, Solan, Dharamshala, Sundernagar, Bhuntar, Palampur, Gagal and Bilaspur. The department has issued a yellow alert of heat wave in many districts of the state till May 24. There is no possibility of rain in the state till May 26.
