Gandhinagar: 58 suspected cases of viral encephalitis have been reported in Gujarat. In which 20 children have died. Now the samples of all these have been sent to Pune lab for confirmation of Chandipura virus. Out of which, so far the report of 7 has come positive for Chandipura virus.
There are a total of 58 cases of viral encephalitis in the state. Out of which 8 cases have been found in Sabarkantha, 4 in Aravalli, 2 in Mahisagar, 2 in Kheda, 3 in Mehsana, 2 in Rajkot, 2 in Surendranagar, 4 in Ahmedabad Corporation, 4 in Gandhinagar, 7 in Panchmahal, 5 in Jamnagar, 4 in Morbi, 1 in Gandhinagar Corporation, 2 in Chhotaudepur, 2 in Dahod, 1 in Vadodara, 1 in Narmada, 1 in Banaskantha, 1 in Vadodara Corporation, 1 in Bhavnagar and 1 in Devbhoomi Dwarka.
Out of these, a total of 7 cases have been found positive in Sabarkantha-1, Aravalli-1, Mehsana-2, Panchmahal-1, Morbi-1, Vadodara-1, Chandipura. Whereas a total of 20 patients have died in Sabarkantha-1, Aravalli-2, Mahisagar-1, Mehsana-1, Rajkot-2, Surendranagar-1, Ahmedabad Corporation-3, Gandhinagar-1, Panchmahal-2, Morbi-2, Gandhinagar Corporation-1, Dahod-2, Devbhoomi Dwarka-1.
Apart from this, out of the 2 cases in Rajasthan, 1 patient is admitted and 1 has died. While the other child patient is from Madhya Pradesh. Currently, a total of 87,486 persons from 15,414 houses have been monitored by the health team.
