Gujarat Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel said that 50 cases of Chandipura virus have been reported across the state. So far, 16 people have lost their lives due to this suspected virus in the state. He said that a total of 14 cases of Chandipura virus have been reported in Himmatpur, out of which seven patients have been admitted. Patel said, “Three cases of Chandipura virus have come from other states. 50 cases of Chandipura virus have been reported across the state and 16 people have lost their lives.” He said that this information has been disseminated in every village and community health center.
Symptoms of Chandipura virus seen in children
The CM also held a meeting with the collector, Chief District Health Officer (CDHO) and medical colleges. He said symptoms of Chandipura virus have been observed in children in Gujarat, which has created a bit of a scare. Seven cases were sent to Pune for laboratory testing, of which only one case was found to be of Chandipura virus. Chandipura virus alone is not responsible for all the symptoms like fever and diarrhoea. It can also cause encephalitis. Important information about the virus has been disseminated across the state.
Gujarat Chief Minister reviewed the situation
Let us tell you that earlier Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel reviewed the situation in the state amid the Chandipura virus and reviewed the measures taken to control the epidemic. Gujarat Information Department said that Gujarat Health Minister Hrishikesh Patel and other senior officials also attended the meeting. CM Patel interacted with State Municipal Commissioners, District Collectors, District Development Officers and Chief District Health Officers through video conferencing and reviewed the performance of their districts. The Chief Minister directed the officials to launch a campaign of spraying Malathion powder in the districts to prevent this disease. He also asked the officials to ensure immediate and intensive treatment of patients suffering from any type of fever.
