Lucknow, 14 October (HS). Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition Nitin Aggarwal said that the Excise Department should be more cautious during the festival season. In this festive season, enforcement action should be continued against the manufacturing, sale and smuggling of illegal liquor. Strictest action should be taken against those who drink and serve liquor outside unauthorized shops. Chandigarh, Haryana and Punjab border posts should be made more active to stop smuggling of illegal liquor. Under no circumstances should illegal liquor come into the state from other states.

The Excise Minister said in the departmental review meeting held at the Sugarcane Institute that excise revenue of Rs 3246.67 crore has been received in the month of September. Receipts worth Rs 22563.15 crore have been made so far in the current financial year. Whereas till this month last year's receipts were Rs 20226.55 crore. He praised the officers of Mirzapur, Ayodhya and Varanasi charges who have achieved maximum in revenue collection and gave a strict warning to the officers of Basti, Gorakhpur and Azamgarh charges who have achieved minimum and also gave instructions to earn 100 percent revenue in the coming month. .

The Excise Minister said that enforcement teams should be sent to the districts and surprise inspections of liquor shops should be conducted. Cooperation of GST team should also be obtained in this. There should be a complete ban on raw liquor, for this a continuous intensive search campaign should also be conducted.

Principal Secretary, Excise, Veena Kumari said that in the month of September, 78848 raids were conducted by the Excise team and 227957 liters of illegal liquor was seized. 330 people involved in this have been sent to jail. Thus, in the current financial year so far, a total of 463947 raids have been conducted and 1434083 liters of illicit liquor has been seized. 118 vehicles used in smuggling have been seized and 5555 accused have been sent to jail. Additional Excise Commissioner (Administration) Gyaneshwar Tripathi and other senior officers and officials of the districts remained virtually connected in the meeting.
