People of some villages in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand have decided to boycott voting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. It has been decided to boycott the elections in protest against the intolerable delays in medical treatment due to lack of road facilities in the area.
Pradeep Farshawan of Ganai village said that a call was given to boycott the Lok Sabha elections in December last year. Pradeep told that in the last two years, two women gave birth to their children on the way to the hospital. After this, we had decided to boycott the Lok Sabha elections last December. We will not vote until the road connecting our village is built. We had written a letter to the Chief Minister on December 11 last explaining the problems of our village.
Even in the month of February, representatives of the village, including women, had written a letter to the District Magistrate explaining the problem.
He said that on March 30, some officials had come to the village and said that they would submit the report within 10 days, but they have not submitted the report yet. Let us tell you here that there are about 550 voters in Ganai village.
