Maharashtra Maratha Reservation: There is an atmosphere of confusion regarding government formation in Maharashtra. The picture of the government is not clear due to the ongoing dispute between BJP and Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena over the post of Chief Minister. On the other hand, Marathas are showing preparation to agitate on the reservation issue. Therefore, this challenge may have to be faced after the new government comes to power.
The Maratha reservation movement did not have any significant impact in the elections. But after the landslide victory of the ruling party, there are reports that the movement may flare up again. Manoj Jarange Patil has decided to start a new movement demanding Maratha reservation. He gave a statement that he will now go on a mass hunger strike.
Declaration of mass hunger strike
Manoj Jarange Patil of Atnarwali village of Jal has announced that this hunger strike will be organized in Beed district. Addressing the supporters, Manoj Patil said that now the elections are over. We should think what is the future of our society and children? Therefore, we should now demand reservation again. All Marathas should think about the future of their children. Everyone should unite and prepare for a fast unto death. After the formation of the new government, I will announce a mass hunger strike and will also tell the date.
Regarding the election results, Manod Jarange Patil said, I have said earlier also that you should vote for whomever you want to vote. But my society is with me. I have not changed my role. We have to be careful not to give false promises to the Marathas. Even if they have returned to power, we will go on hunger strike again. Whatever power the government has, it should be used to work for the Maratha society.
