Centre's aim is to make India an attractive destination for manufacturing and services: Sitharaman

Ahmedabad/New Delhi, April 20 (HS). Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said the Center has formulated policies to make India an attractive destination for manufacturing and services. Sitharaman said that the government's emphasis is on producing not only for the domestic market but also for export.

Sitharaman said this in her address during the 'Dialogue on Forecasting the Indian Economy in 2047' program in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. In response to a question, he said that policies have been made to attract investment. We want manufacturers and investors to come and produce not only for India but also to export from here. We will try to attract manufacturers and investors through policies.

Speaking on inflation, the Finance Minister said that under the Modi government, it never crossed the tolerable limit except for one month. He said that before 2014 the economy was in a bad shape while inflation was in double digits. In response to a question about employment, he said that there is a lack of data in both formal and informal sectors, but lakhs of people have got employment due to the initiatives of the Central Government.
