Central Railway ahead in collecting fine from hawkers, earned Rs 300 crore

Indian Railways is known throughout the world for its unique identity. But Railways has also benefited a lot from the cases of traveling without ticket and other cases in the Railway Department. Yes… Central Railway claims that it stands first among all the zones in terms of fines and revenue. Of the 20.56 lakh cases of ticketless and irregular travel, the Mumbai division of Central Railway has got a fine of Rs. 115.29 crores have been earned.

Out of 8.34 lakh cases, Bhusaval department has collected Rs. Earning of 66.33 crores. While, Nagpur division earned Rs 34.52 crore from 5.70 lakh cases, Solapur division earned Rs 34.57 crore from 5.44 lakh cases, Pune division earned Rs 28.15 crore from 3.74 lakh cases and its headquarter earned Rs 20.96 crore from 2.47 lakh cases.

Ticket checker Sunil Nainani collected the highest fine

A Central Railway spokesperson said that we have 22 ticket checking staff, including two women examiners. He personally collected Rs. Contributed more than Rs 1 crore. In terms of individual contribution, ticket inspector Sunil Nainani is at the top, having contributed revenue of Rs 1.92 crore in 20,117 cases. At second place is ticket inspector MM Shinde, who earned Rs 1.59 crore from 18,223 cases, while at third place is inspector Dharmendra Kumar, who earned Rs 1.52 crore from 17,641 cases.

Railways also benefit from chain pulling

A report released a few days ago revealed that Railways has booked 2266 passengers for chain pulling in trains in Uttar Pradesh's Agra division and collected a fine of Rs 8,35,165. The department has launched a division-wide campaign to prevent lateness of trains. In the financial year 2023-24, the campaign was conducted under the direction of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Anubhav Jain on the instructions of Agra Divisional Railway Manager Tej Prakash Aggarwal. 647 people were prosecuted at Agra Cantt railway station and a fine of Rs 90,830 was collected. At Mathura Junction, action was taken against 1347 people and Rs 5,76,140 was recovered. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 67,700 was collected from 120 people at Dholpur station. Continuous campaigns are being run by the Commerce Department and Railway Protection Force of Agra Division.
