Wheat Price: The procurement of wheat by the central government has started. In which the Central Government's FCI (Food Corporation of India) has purchased a total of 255 lakh tonnes of wheat till late last night. Maximum purchases have taken place in Haryana and Punjab.
It is expected that there will be no problem of grain this year because agriculture officials are going door-to-door to encourage farmers to sell their wheat to the government agency. After this purchase, the central government's wheat warehouses are once again filled. However, wheat procurement has declined compared to the 256.8 lakh tonne purchase recorded last year.
Target to purchase 372.9 lakh tonnes
There has been bumper sowing of wheat this year. It is estimated that the Central Government has purchased 280 to 290 lakh tonnes of wheat. This year it wants to buy 372.9 lakh tonnes of wheat. After the selloff last year, government shares reached a record low. Government sources said that according to Food Corporation data, wheat stock in the central stock stood at 75 lakh tonnes on April 1, compared to 83.50 lakh tonnes in the same period last year. In the last decade, the average stock of wheat in the central stock on April 1 was 167 lakh tonnes.

Last week, the government had said that farmers who waste their fields and burn grass will not get the benefit of Minimum Support Price (MSP). This system of the government can be implemented from this year itself. The Central Government has given this order to all the states under the recommendations of the Supreme Court.
