A big update has come out regarding the census conducted every 10 years. According to sources, the census will start next year (in 2025), which will continue for one year (till 2026). After this, the census to be held in the next 10 years will now be held in 2035. Till now, census was conducted every ten years at the beginning of the decade like 1991, 2001, 2011. Similarly, the census was to be held in 2021, but it had to be postponed due to the Covid pandemic. After this the census cycle is also going to change. Now census will be held in 2025, then in 2035 and then in 2045, 2055.

Demarcation will be completed by 2028

Delimitation of Lok Sabha seats will begin after the census is completed. The delimitation process is likely to be completed by 2028. In fact, many opposition parties are also demanding caste census, but the government has not yet taken a decision on it.

The government is considering this demand

Till now religion and caste were asked in the census. Apart from this, General, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe are counted. But this time people can also be asked which sect they follow. For example, in Karnataka the Lingayats, who come from the general caste, consider themselves a separate sect. Similarly, even among the Scheduled Castes, there are many sects like Valmiki, Ravidas etc. That means the government is considering the demand for census on the basis of religion, class and sect.

No decision yet on caste census!

At present, the Central Government has not taken a formal decision to conduct caste-wise census along with population census. But in view of the opposition's attempt to make caste-based census a political issue, the Modi government may decide to conduct caste-based census. Because the government also wants that there should not be any differences in the NDA on this issue but the roots of the caste system present in the population of all religions should also be known. Then if any special scheme is to be run for any facility including reservation, then the first and most important test of the three-tier examination will be completed with this campaign.
