Census report reveals that the population of 'minority' Hindus in Pakistan has decreased, the population of Christians has increased

Hindu population decreased in Pakistan: The population of Hindus in the Islamic country Pakistan is expected to increase from 3.5 million in 2017 to 3.8 million in 2023. According to official data from last year's census, it is also the largest minority community in the country.

Pakistan Bureau of Statistics report released

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Thursday released the 7th Population and Housing Census 2023 report, reports Dawn newspaper. The total population of the country in 2023 is 240.4 million.

Increase in population of other religions in last six years

According to the census report, the Muslim population in the Islamic nation is expected to decline from 96.47 per cent of the total population in 2017 to 96.35 per cent in 2023, while the population of all other major religions has increased over the past six years.

However, their share as a percentage of the total population shows a mixed picture. The population of Hindus in Pakistan is projected to grow from 3.5 million in 2017 to 3.8 million in 2023, but their share in the total population has declined from 1.73 per cent to 1.61 per cent, showing the fastest growth among other minority communities in the Islamic country.
