The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducted surprise inspections in 29 schools in Delhi, Bengaluru, Varanasi, Bihar, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh to detect admission of dummy students, officials said in a statement.
According to board secretary Himanshu Gupta, a total of 29 teams comprising a CBSE official and a principal of the school concerned conducted the inspection.
Gupta said that in most of the schools which were inspected, the relevant rules of the board were not being followed. The number of schools was more than the actual total admissions.
It was also revealed that infrastructure standards were being violated in the school. CBSE has taken these irregularities seriously and has started the process of issuing show cause notices to such schools.
According to CBSE, the number of schools violating the rules is 18 in Delhi, 3 in Varanasi, 2 in Bengaluru, 2 in Patna, 2 in Ahmedabad, 2 in Bilaspur and 2 in Chhattisgarh.
Let us tell you that students preparing for engineering and medical entrance exams take admission in dummy schools so that they can concentrate completely on preparing for the entrance exam. They don’t go to school, only to appear for board exams.
