CBSE may implement two exam pattern system: According to sources in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the education wing of the board is working on conducting two-tier exams for different subjects in the coming years. This step is being taken under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. In which it was proposed to provide examination pattern to the students at two levels in different subjects according to their knowledge and ability.
What changes will CBSE make?
This pattern is already currently applied to the mathematics subject. Which is a part of class 10 board examination. CBSE sources confirmed that several rounds of meetings have already been held on the issue. In which the plan was examined in detail. Under this, students will be able to choose the difficulty level of the exam according to their ability. So that their ability and understanding can be better estimated.
Examinations will be held on the basis of students’ merit.
Now CBSE is planning to implement this pattern in other important subjects like science and social sciences also. Its objective is to ensure that students can get better opportunities in their field of study and appear in the examinations to the best of their ability. However, this proposal has not yet gone to the governing body of the board. It can be implemented only after the approval of the apex body. After this, under the new system, students will get the opportunity to take the exam on the basis of difficulty level suitable for them.
Also change the course to apply the pattern
Another challenge may have to be faced in implementing this proposal. Since the examination will be conducted at two levels, the syllabus will also have to be changed. This work will be done by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). NCERT prepares educational curriculum and books. Now NCERT will have to make changes in the textbooks.
