CBI reprimanded for delay in filing final chargesheet in Land for Job case

New Delhi, 30 April (Hindustan Times). Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has reprimanded CBI for delaying filing the final charge sheet in the Land for Job case. The court directed the investigating officer of this case to appear in the court with the case diary on the next date of hearing. Special Judge Vishal Gogane ordered the next hearing of the case on May 9.

Today, lawyer DP Singh, appearing for CBI, said that the final charge sheet is almost complete but some legal questions are being discussed internally by CBI officials. On this the court said that it is taking time for the final charge sheet since three months. The trial is not starting because the final charge sheet has not been filed. The proceedings in the court are at a standstill. Various applications of many accused are pending. After that, the court ordered the investigating officer of the case, Bikash Chandra Chaurasia and CBI SP Nipun Gupta to appear on the next date with the case diary.

Today the accused in this case Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav did not appear. He sought exemption from appearance in the court today, which was accepted by the court. Let us tell you that CBI had filed the third supplementary charge sheet in this case on March 06. In the supplementary chargesheet, the CBI has named Bhola Yadav as accused along with two candidates who got the job, Ashok Kumar and Babita. In the supplementary charge sheet of CBI, it has been said that Bhola Yadav had been the secretary of Lalu Yadav and he used to look after all the work. It was Bhola Yadav who used to give instructions to the officers. CBI has obtained documents in this regard from Bhola Yadav's computer. On February 27, CBI had told the court that it would file a supplementary charge sheet in this case within ten days. CBI had arrested Bhola Yadav and Hridayanand Chaudhary in this case. Bhola Yadav was Lalu Yadav's OSD from 2004 to 2009.

The Land for Job scam happened when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister. Bhola Yadav is considered to be the mastermind of this scam. It is alleged that when Lalu Yadav was the Railway Minister, he was asked to give land in exchange for job. Bhola Yadav was entrusted with the work of giving land in exchange for job. Bhola Yadav was elected MLA from Bahadurpur seat in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections.

On October 04, 2023, the court had granted bail to Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu Prasad Yadav and Rabri Devi in ​​this case. The court had taken cognizance of the second charge sheet filed by the CBI on 22 September 2023. On July 3, 2023, CBI had filed a supplementary charge sheet. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav has been made an accused in the charge sheet filed by CBI. CBI has already filed charge sheet against Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi in ​​this case. On March 15, 2023, the court granted bail to Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi and Misa Bharti. The court granted bail on a bond of Rs 50,000. On February 27, 2023, the court had taken cognizance of the charge sheet filed against all the accused including these three accused. On October 07, 2022, CBI had filed the first charge sheet against 16 accused including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi and Misa Bharti.

Let us tell you that in May 2023, CBI had raided 17 locations related to Lalu Yadav's family in this case. CBI had raided the locations of Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi and daughter Misa Bharti in Patna, Gopalganj and Delhi.
