Mumbai – The Supreme Court has issued notice on a petition challenging the Bombay High Court order annulling the arrest of former ICICI Bank MD and CEO Chanda Kochhar and her husband Deepak Kochhar by the CBI in the Videocon case.
The court issued the notice after hearing initial arguments by Additional Solicitor General SV Raju on behalf of the CBI. The appeal was filed against the order passed by the Bombay High Court in February.
The High Court upheld the interim bail granted earlier to the Kochhar couple and declared the arrest of the couple illegal. The Kochhar couple was arrested by the CBI in December 2022. In 2012, Videocon Group was accused of irregularities and fraud in a loan of Rs 3250 crore given by ICICI. The complaint alleged that Kochhar's husband and family members benefited financially in this transaction.
