CBI raided Madhya Pradesh for the second consecutive day, raided 16 places

Bhopal, March 4 (HS). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken action for the second consecutive day in the bribery transaction of Rs 20 lakh against two officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), two directors and two employees of Bansal Construction Company. CBI teams of Delhi and Nagpur, in a joint action on Monday, also arrested the DGM of NHAI Bhopal and the project director posted in Vidisha.

Earlier on Sunday, the CBI team raided NHAI GM and Project Director Nagpur Arvind Kale, Deputy General Manager Brijesh Kumar Sahu posted in Harda, Anil Bansal and Kunal Bansal, directors of Bhopal-based Bansal Construction Company and employees of Bansal Construction Company C Krishna and Chhatar Singh was arrested. On Monday, Nagpur and Delhi CBI team, in a joint action, arrested NHAI's Bhopal DGM Rajendra Kumar Gupta and Vidisha project director Hemant Kumar in the same bribery case.

According to the information, different CBI teams on Monday raided a total of 16 places including offices, residences and hideouts of the accused in Nagpur, Bhopal, Harda, Vidisha and Dindori. Cash and jewelery worth about Rs 90 lakh have been recovered during the raid. On Sunday, CBI had recovered a total of Rs 1 crore ten lakh along with a bribe amount of Rs 20 lakh. On Monday, this amount of recovery has almost increased to Rs. 2 crores. CBI has produced all the accused in the special CBI court in Bhopal and taken them on remand for questioning.

According to the information received from CBI, the officers and employees of Bansal Construction Company were in constant touch regarding the completion certificates, progress sheets and payment of bills of the contracts awarded to the company from Vidisha, Bhopal, Harda to Nagpur and used to get the work done by giving bribes. For this reason, NHAI officials of Bhopal and Vidisha were also arrested on Monday. CBI teams are interrogating all the officers and gathering information as to how long this bribery business was going on and which projects were passed by taking bribes and how many crores have been received by the officers so far in bribes.
