Nadiad, June 26 (HS). The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam question paper leak and irregularities has reached Kheda district. On Wednesday, the CBI team reached Jai Jalaram International School in Thermal, Kheda district to investigate. Local police officials were also present with the CBI. The local session court has rejected the bail application of the main accused center superintendent Parshottam Sharma arrested in this case.
Actually, NEET exam was conducted at both Godhra and Thermal centres of Jai Jalaram School. In the case of rigging in NEET exam, Godhra police of Panchmahal district had arrested Jai Jalaram School's NEET exam city coordinator and school principal Parshottam Sharma. A day before the exam, a meeting was held at Parshottam Sharma's house with Tushar Bhatt, in which the list of candidates was prepared. When the matter of rigging in the exam came to light, Parshottam Sharma had got the CCTV footage of the house deleted.
According to the information, the regular bail petition of the main accused center superintendent Parshottam Sharma in the case of unfair means of cheating during the NEET examination in Godhra has been rejected by the Chief Sessions Court of Panchmahal district. It is important to note that during the hearing in the court, the investigating officer had told that the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts the NEET examination across the country is not cooperating in the investigation in any way. The court was told that even the OMR sheets of the students shortlisted in the NEET examination are not being given. The court has strongly criticized this behavior of NTA.
FIR is lodged in Godhra police station
An FIR was registered at Godhra police station on May 8, 2024 in the case of unfair assistance to the candidates during the NEET examination. The state government has handed over the overall case to the CBI for a detailed investigation of the matter. The Home Department has also issued a notification in this regard. Actually, the NEET UG exam was held on May 5, 2024. After the examination, the matter of paper leak for some candidates came to light. It was also revealed that unfair assistance was provided to the candidates in the conduct of the examination at Jai Jalaram School in Godhra, Gujarat. According to the information, there is an allegation of collecting up to Rs 10 lakh from the candidates in this case. The District Education Officer had lodged a complaint against three people including the school teacher, the Deputy Superintendent of the center. In the investigation of the overall case, the police had arrested and interrogated five people.
