Mumbai – The CBI has started investigation against then DCP of Economic Offenses Wing of Pune Police and IPS officer Bhagyashree Navtak for irregularities in the investigation of Rs 1200 crore scam of Jalgaon-based Bhai Chand Hirachand Raisoni (BHR) Credit Society. Earlier Pune Police had filed a complaint against him but now CBI has registered a new case and taken over the investigation.
Navtak was in-charge of the team investigating the alleged Rs 1,200 crore BHR Credit Society fraud case. He had filed several cases under the same crime number. Apart from this, signatures of the complainants were taken in their absence. They are accused of making false documents without any specific purpose without following proper procedure.
In this regard, Pune Crime Branch DCP Nikhil Pingle has lodged a complaint with Pune's Bundgarden Police. On the basis of this complaint, a case was registered against DCP Navtak. However, after the recommendation of the state government, the investigation of this case has been handed over to CBI. CBI has now started presenting evidence against Navatak.
The entire case was registered in three police stations in Pune district in November, 2020. Under this, Sunil Janwar and Kunal Shah complained that the entire case was investigated wrongly. The complaint was investigated by three senior officers of the police chief's office. Then on 19 February 2024, the police chief sent the investigation report of this case to the Home Department. After the order of the Chief Minister's Office, this case has now been handed over to CBI.
