Carlos Alcaraz expected to be fit for Indian Wells

Rio de Janeiro, February 22 (HS). Two-time Grand Slam winner Carlos Alcaraz on Wednesday said he hopes to be fit for next month's BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells after spraining his ankle at the Rio Open.

The 20-year-old was forced to retire hurt after just two sets in his opening match against Thiago Monteiro at the Jockey Club Brasileiro on Tuesday night.

The world number two player said in a social media post, “I had an MRI of my ankle after Tuesday's injury. Have a grade II sprain…that will keep me out for a few days! See you in Las Vegas and Indian Wells!”

Let us tell you that the BNP Paribas Open, an ATP Masters 1000 event, will be played from March 6 to 17 on the hard courts of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in California.
