Hardoi, May 24 (HS). An uncontrolled car collided with a tree on Friday in the Sandi police station area of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh. After the accident, the car caught fire and the husband and wife died after being burnt alive in it. The police somehow controlled the fire and after identifying the bodies, sent them for postmortem, started further action.
Akash Pal (32), a resident of Radhepurva Road in the City Kotwali area, had come to a college in the Sandi police station area on Friday to take his wife Kirti Singh (30) for her exam. Both were returning after the exam was over. Suddenly a tyre burst on the Hardoi-Sandi road and the car went out of control and hit a tree. The car caught fire after the accident. Eyewitnesses told that after the fire broke out, the husband and wife travelling in the car were trying to unbuckle their seat belts, but they failed due to the horrific form of the fire and they died by being burnt alive.
The fire brigade reached the spot one hour after the incident was reported. Before this, the local villagers tried to extinguish the fire by pouring soil. The fire could be controlled half an hour after the arrival of the fire brigade. On receiving the news of the accident, Additional Superintendent of Police East Nripendra, Sandi Police Station Head Chhotelal reached the spot. The police has sent the bodies for postmortem and is engaged in further action.
