Kathua, 15 October (Hindustan Reporter). Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua Sanjeev Rai Gupta along with a team of officers visited the paddy procurement centers of Bhajwal, Nagari, Keedhiyan and Palli to inspect the paddy procurement operations and functioning of the procurement centres.
Sanjeev Rai Gupta said that Agriculture Department Kathua in collaboration with Food Corporation of India operated 11 paddy procurement centers in Bhajwal, Keedhian, Nagari, Jakhabar-Padiyari, Palli, Kunde Chak, Mukandpur, Dhanni-Bakhta, Madhheen, Chhan Arorian and Dungara. Are. Which will make it easier to transport the paddy harvested by the farmers to the nearest procurement center of their choice. He said FCI and state agencies have started procurement of paddy at Minimum Support Price (MSP) to create buffer stock as well as to protect the interests of farmers. Farmers will be given support price at the rate of Rs 2300 for common variety of paddy and Rs 2320 for grade “A” variety.
As a result he appealed to the farmers not to sell their produce to private companies at less than the minimum support price set by the Government of India for the current season. He also stressed upon the farming community to bring clean paddy produce by cleaning it themselves to streamline the procurement process and avoid delays at paddy procurement centres. During his visit, the Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua directed the officials of the paddy procurement centers to cooperate with the farmers and act as a bridge between the Food Corporation of India (FCI) and the farmers to provide better services to the farming community. On this occasion, Murari Lal District Agriculture Officer (Extension) Kathua, Parshotam Gupta SDAO Kathua, Pramod Kumar AEO Kathua and related officers were also present along with Chief Agriculture Officer Kathua.
