Prayagraj, 27 March (Hindustan Reporter). Siddha Regional Research Institute, a research institute of the Ministry of AYUSH located in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is studying the drug standardization of pearl for the treatment of various diseases. For which Director-in-charge Dr. Kangarajan needs special beads made by institute scientist Dr. Ajay Kumar Sonkar. For cooperation in research and public interest, Dr. Ajay Kumar has decided to give 100 grams of pearl beads for free.
According to Dr. Kangarajan, while trying to supply pearls for research, it was found that India's pearl market is flooded with freshwater pearls from China. After discussion with many people of this area, it was concluded that these special pearls for treatment can be found only from Dr. Ajay. However, the production of these special pearls requires a special and controlled environment of the laboratory. Whose production cost is many times higher than normal. The institute currently requires 100 grams of pearls. After separating the foreign elements, several thousand of these special pearls will be required to get a layer of 100 grams of pure pearls, which will cost lakhs of rupees. Due to limited finance for research, Dr. Sonkar of the institute was requested to give concession in the price.
It is noteworthy that in 2010, Dr. Ajay conducted an extensive study to optimize the medicinal value of pearl components, for which he standardized the method of producing pearls in a controlled environment with aseptic conditions. Which was published as a praise in many newspapers and magazines across the world. It is well known that most of the marine conditions in today's world are contaminated by pollution. In such a situation, the depth of the untouched sea in Andaman was found to be the most suitable. Dr. Ajay removes the layers of the pearl by removing the nucleus (extraneous particles). So that these pearls used for treatment remain free from any kind of foreign element. These pearls contain traces of metals and minerals like zinc, copper, magnesium, iron, calcium, sodium and potassium. These micronutrients aid metabolism, growth and immunity.
Zinc in particular has played a major role in preventing fatal diseases like cancer. Published studies, including the British Journal of Cancer, have also established that malignant cells have a significant reduction in zinc content compared to normal cells. The high zinc levels present in normal cells act as a cytokine to malignant cells. Dr. Ajay has studied and researched in various scientific disciplines. In which recent research on life science, genetic science, cellular and tissue culture is prominent. The President of India has honored Dr. Ajay with Padma Shri in 2022 for his incomparable scientific achievements.
