Canadian government warns students, says 'Study permit does not guarantee permanent resident status'

Marc Miller

Every year a large number of candidates go to Canada for studies. The number of candidates going to Canada from India is very high. Meanwhile, the Canadian government has warned international students. In this regard, Canada's Immigration Minister Mark Miller said that the study permit, that is, the permit given to study here, is not a guarantee of becoming a permanent resident. Candidates who get the right to study here do not get the right to become citizens here.

According to a report, Canada is having trouble accommodating new international students in the country. In such a situation, Canada's Refugee and Citizenship Minister Mark Miller says that the study permit obtained for studying here does not open the way for PR at all. He said that students should come here, study and go home. Students should go to their country and use their skills.

He also said that he is also considering a proposal to restrict candidates in Canada to meet labour requirements. Generally, candidates who can be employed as required will be allowed to stay here, but this does not mean that every candidate who comes here to study will get permanent resident status. The Canadian government also says that the country is now less welcoming than before and international students should be aware that study permits will no longer be the cheapest way to enter the country.
