Washington: On the India vs Canada issue, Canada has accused India of killing Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijhar, after which relations between the two countries have deteriorated. Now America has also jumped into this matter and has described these allegations of the Trudeau government as 'very serious' and has made a special request to India.

Request for support from India

The US has requested India to cooperate with Canada's investigation in this matter. US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said,

“We have made it clear that Canada's allegations are very serious and should be taken seriously and we want the Government of India to cooperate with Canada and its investigation. But, India has chosen an alternative path.

He stressed the need for cooperation between the two countries

Emphasizing the need for cooperation between the two countries, the US spokesperson said that I have no comment other than what both the countries have said publicly. We have appealed to them to cooperate and will continue to urge them to do so in future also.

India-US relations always strong: Miller

Asked about the status of the charges, Miller said, “I would rely on those two countries to talk about the relative status of the case.” However, Miller assured that US-India bilateral relations remain strong.

He said that India remains an incredibly strong ally of America. We have worked with them on a range of issues, including our shared vision for a free, open and prosperous Indo-Pacific, and whenever we have any concerns, we have a relationship where we raise those concerns. Yes, we can discuss those concerns openly.

India took action

Let us tell you that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has accused the agents of the Indian government of being involved in the murder of Nijhar, after which there has been a rift in the relations between India and Canada. India has rejected Canada's allegations as 'absurd' and politically motivated.

India then announced its decision to expel six Canadian diplomats. India has also recalled its diplomats and consular officials from Canada.
