India-Canada Tension: Canada's spy agency has given a big warning to India. It says that India is using cyber technology to keep an eye on Khalistanis abroad. The warning comes a day after allegations that a top Indian official was responsible for violence in Vancouver, including the killing of a Sikh.
Canada's Communications Security Establishment (CSE) said in a report, 'India is using cyber capabilities to track and monitor Khalistanis living abroad. Apart from this, there has also been talk of a cyber attack on the Canadian government network.
“It is clear that we see India as an emerging cyber threat,” CSE head Caroline Xavier said. According to the report, the agency has attributed this activity to the rift in bilateral relations between Canada and India. Canada alleges that a pro-Indian hacktivist group carried out distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. This led to a significant increase in online traffic, making it difficult for users to use it. In which many Canadian websites including the army's public website were targeted.
Canadian officials revealed that Ottawa has uncovered a major operation. Under this, Modi government is targeting Khalistanis of Canada.
Justin Trudeau's serious allegations against India
Earlier, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused India in a press conference and said, 'Agents of the Indian government are involved in criminal activities against Canadian citizens on Canadian soil. India has not cooperated with Canada in the investigation of this case. We will not tolerate any country colluding in threatening or killing any Canadian citizen. This is a violation of Canada's sovereignty and international law.
However, India has rejected these allegations. Delhi and Ottawa expelled each other's ambassadors and other senior diplomats earlier this month. Four Indian nationals have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Khalistanis demand an independent Sikh state
It is noteworthy that Canada is home to the largest Sikh community outside India. A large number of Khalistanis also live here who are demanding an independent Sikh state. Canada has already accused India of the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Nijjar was murdered in Vancouver in 2023. He was a big name in the Khalistani movement.
