MP Charanjit Channi: The election petition filed in the Punjab-Haryana High Court regarding MP Charanjit Channi, who became MP from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, is to be heard on Monday. This petition has been filed in the High Court by BJP leader Gaurav Luthra through lawyer Manit Malhotra. In which he has demanded the cancellation of the election of MP Charanjit Singh Channi under the Representation of the People Act.
While filing the petition, BJP leader Gaurav Luthra told the High Court that Charanjit Singh Channi He has been elected as MP from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat. He had hidden many details while filling the nomination form. Along with this, he has also not submitted the correct details of election expenses to the commission.
During the elections, a hotel had 24-hour catering facility but he did not mention the cost in the election campaign details. He used to hold 10-15 public meetings daily but during this time he did not spend a single vehicle on the campaign. He held a road show in Rama Mandi without permission. Even the expenses of the booths set up outside the polling stations to distribute voter slips were not disclosed.
The petitioner said that in such a situation it becomes clear that Channi used corrupt methods to win the election. Luthra has demanded that his election be canceled under the Representation of the People Act. The petitioner had also complained to the Election Commission in this regard, but there was no result.
