Chandigarh: The election campaign for the last phase of elections on 13 Lok Sabha seats of Punjab ended on Thursday evening. Today, on the last day, till the last moment, the candidates took out road shows and tried their best to convince about 2 crore 14 lakh 61 thousand, 739 voters in favor of their respective party and candidate.
Senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, BJP president JP Nadda, Congress president Mallika Arjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, present and former chief ministers of several states participated in various election rallies, meetings and interacted with voters through road shows.
Although hundreds of candidates have entered the fray, including former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, MP Ravneet Singh Bittu, former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawan, Harsimrat Kaur Badal, Preneet Kaur, Cabinet Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Akali Dal (A) President Simranjit Singh Mann, BSP State President Jasbir Singh Gary, MPs Dr. Amar Singh, Gurjit Aujla, Hans Raj Hans, BJP's Tarunjit Singh from Amritsar, voters will decide the political future of Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Sukhpal Singh Bhullar, Gurmeet Singh Khudia, Dr. Balveer Singh and artist Karamjit Anmol Shamal.
Instructions to DC and SSP to increase surveillance during 48 hours
Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C has ordered all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) in the state to maintain strict vigil 48 hours before polling to ensure fair elections.
