CAA Rules Notification Benefits: Before the Lok Sabha elections, the Central Government has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act. Which was passed by the Parliament four years ago in December 2019, but now it has been implemented. According to the Home Ministry's notification, non-Muslim refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will have to apply for citizenship under the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024. A web portal has been made available for this.
Refugees who came before December 31, 2014 will get citizenship
According to a Home Ministry official, no documents will be asked from the applicants for this. Under the rules, refugees of Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Jain and Buddhist religions who came to India from the three countries on or before December 31, 2014, will be granted citizenship. Now the question arises that what legal rights and benefits can these refugees get after getting citizenship.
These citizens will get benefits from voting to contesting elections.
