The electric premium SUV segment is expanding rapidly in the Indian automobile market. In this sequence, leading electric vehicle manufacturer BYD India has launched a new and more affordable base variant of its popular luxury coupe-SUV ‘Sealion 7’. ‘Dynamic’ Has been officially launched. With the arrival of this new trim, it has now become cheaper for customers to enter this premium electric SUV by ₹ 8 lakh. Coming with a driving range of 520 km, advanced e-Platform 3.0 architecture and global 5-star safety rating, this car is giving a new dimension to electric mobility in the Indian market.
Big change in price and variant lineup
BYD Sealion 7 Dynamic has been introduced by the company at a starting price of ₹ 41.90 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). Earlier, this electric SUV was available only in Premium and Performance variants, whose ex-showroom prices were ₹ 49.90 lakh and ₹ 55.90 lakh respectively. With the addition of the new ‘Dynamic’ trim, the entire Sealion 7 range will now be available in three main variants—Dynamic, Premium and Performance. With this aggressive pricing, BYD is directly targeting Indian customers looking for a luxury electric car in the budget of ₹40 lakh to ₹55 lakh.
Battery pack, motor and driving range performance
BYD’s patented 71.8 kWh capacity ultra-safe ‘Blade Battery’ has been used in the new base variant. It comes with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration, in which the rear axle electric motor generates maximum power of 228 bhp and peak torque of 380 Nm. In terms of driving range, it is capable of covering a distance of up to 520 kilometers on a single charge as per New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). For speed lovers, this car achieves the speed of 0 to 100 kmph in just 7.3 seconds.
Fast charging and vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology
Keeping the charging infrastructure in mind, the Sealion 7 Dynamic has been designed with DC fast charging support up to 110 kW. It also supports Type-2 AC charging port (7 kW). The car has modern ‘Vehicle-to-Load’ (V2L) technology, through which you can easily power camping equipment, laptop or any other home electronic device from the car battery.
Global 5-star crash test rating and safety armor
On the safety front, BYD Sealion 7 is counted among the safest electric cars in the world. It has received a full 5-stars in both Euro NCAP and Australasian NCAP (ANCAP) prestigious crash tests. The company has used Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology in it, in which the battery directly becomes an integral part of the vehicle’s chassis. This not only increases the strength of the body manifold, but also keeps the cabin completely safe in side and frontal collisions. Along with this, a total of 11 airbags have been provided in the car for the safety of passengers, which also includes front center airbag.
Level-2 ADAS and active safety features
The car has been provided with a complete package of modern Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). This includes autonomous emergency braking (AEB), adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure prevention, emergency lane keeping assist, forward and rear cross-traffic alert with braking, blind spot detection, traffic sign recognition and a 360-degree HD view camera. To maintain the stability of the vehicle, it also has Intelligent Torque Adaptation Control (iTAC) and Electronic Stability Control.
Cabin design, luxury and connectivity features
As soon as you step into the interior, you feel like a premium lounge. The signature 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen infotainment system is placed in the center of the dashboard, which supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A 10.25-inch full digital instrument console is available in front of the driver. A large panoramic glass roof has been provided to give an open and airy look to the cabin. Apart from this, it gets electronic parking brake with auto-hold, crystal gear shifter, wireless phone charging pad, dual zone climate control and a large boot space of 500 liters (with additional 58 liters front trunk/frank).
Exterior Look, Colors and Dimensions
The sporty coupe-SUV stance of the Celien 7 gives it immense road presence. Sharp full-LED headlamps, flush door handles, dynamic aerodynamic alloy wheels and 3D connected LED taillights are provided at the front. In India, it is made available in four attractive colors – Atlantis Grey, Cosmos Black, Aurora White and Shark Grey. The overall length of 4,830 mm and the long wheelbase of 2,930 mm provide excellent legroom for rear row passengers.

BYD India has introduced ‘Celebrate Your Dreams’ festive offer with new dynamic variants. Under this offer, customers are being given a free 7 kW home charger with installation. Apart from this, 10 years complimentary Roadside Assistance (RSA) and 10 years or 1.5 lakh kilometer extended warranty on LFP low-voltage battery is also being provided, which completely eliminates the maintenance worries for the buyers.
