By-election: 3718 polling stations have been set up in nine assembly constituencies of UP, voting will start from 7 am.

Lucknow, 19 November (HS). The round of meetings for the by-elections to be held on Wednesday on nine assembly seats of the state ended on Monday evening but the campaigning on foot gained momentum. Candidates and supporters went door-to-door to convince people and also started making strategies to take their voters to the booths. Political parties are sending voter lists to their respective booth presidents. On the other hand, the Election Commission has made complete preparations for this. A total of 3718 polling stations have been set up in all the nine areas. Voting will start from 7 am on Wednesday.

By-elections are to be held in nine assembly seats of the state, Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Sisamau, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhwan. The Election Commission said that voting will run from 7 am to 5 pm on Wednesday. 843 heavy vehicles, 762 light vehicles and 16318 polling personnel have been deployed to complete the election process. 5151 EVM control units, 5171 ballot units and 5524 VVPATs have been prepared for voting. There are a total of 90 candidates in this election.

To conduct this election, the Commission has deployed nine general observers, five police observers and nine expenditure observers. A total of 3718 polling stations have been set up in nine assembly constituencies. There are 1917 polling stations which will continue to be monitored from Lucknow. Adequate paramilitary forces have been deployed to conduct the elections peacefully. Live webcasting has been arranged at 1994 polling stations.

A total of 74 model polling stations, 10 all women managed polling stations, 7 all youth worker polling stations and 6 all disabled managed polling stations have been created for the by-election. The election officer said that apart from the voter photo identity card, 12 other identity cards will be valid for voting. Information about voting percentage will be sent to the media every 2 hours.
