Bus fell into drain, 8 people died, many injured

A tragic road accident took place in Bathinda district on Friday, in which many people lost their lives. The incident took place on the Sardulgarh-Bathinda route, when a bus slipped during rain and fell into a dirty drain on the roadside. In this horrific accident, five people died on the spot, while dozens were seriously injured.

Villagers showed courage, engaged in rescue work

Immediately after the incident, local villagers reached the spot and started rescue operations. People risked their lives and pulled the passengers out of the drain. After some time, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team also reached the spot and took over the rescue operation.

Treatment of the injured continues, three more died

The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, but three more people died during treatment, taking the death toll to eight. Giving information, Bathinda MLA Jagroop Singh Gill said that 20 people have been injured in this accident, who are being treated at Shaheed Bhai Mani Singh Hospital. He has instructed the medical officers to leave no stone unturned in taking care of the injured.

Heavy rain and breakage of bridge railing became the cause of the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, it was raining heavily in the area at the time of the accident. It is being told that the bus first hit the railing of the bridge and then fell straight into the drain. Villagers said that there were many difficulties in the rescue work due to rain and slippage. However, the NDRF team handled the situation and helped in evacuating the passengers safely.

Officials took stock of the spot

As soon as information about the incident was received, senior administration officials reached the spot. Deputy Commissioner Shaukat Ahmed Parre praised the villagers and said that due to their promptness many lives could be saved. He also told that after the accident, the bus was taken out of the drain with the help of a crane.

Investigation ongoing, number of passengers in the bus unknown

The reasons behind the accident are being investigated. Officials said it was not yet known how many passengers were in the bus. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the area due to the accident, and the administration has assured all possible help to the affected families.

This accident has left the people of Bathinda and surrounding areas in deep shock. Officials have said that strict security arrangements will be made to prevent such incidents in future.
