Kathmandu, 27 September (HS). Despite a passenger bus crashing into the Kosi River from the Kosi Barrage on the Nepal-India border, all the passengers on board have been saved. According to eyewitnesses, there was no loss of life or property as the bus fell on the sand frozen part of the river.
Saptari SP Vipin Regmi said that bus number 1.B of Narsingh Deluxe service broke the wall on the south side of gate number 35 of the barrage and fell into the river. All the passengers traveling in bus 4601 were rescued. According to him, there were 20 people in the bus including the driver, co-driver and passengers.
SP Regmi said that out of 20 injured people rescued from the bus, 17 are being treated at Kosi Health Care Hospital, Sunsari, while 3 are being treated at Bhardah Hospital.
On interrogating the driver and other passengers, it was found that only 20 people were traveling in the accident bus. SP Regmi said that despite the statements of the bus driver and passengers, investigative work is being done there.
According to Police SP, 35-year-old Chandan Kumar Mehta, the driver of the bus, is currently under control at Bhardah police post. In the statement of the passengers, it has been said that the bus was driving faster than the speed limit on the road built on Kosi Barrage, due to which the bus went out of control and fell into the river.
