Apart from this, they get Rs 2000 per day as allowance for sitting at home. Apart from this, travel facilities are provided to Members of Parliament to attend House sessions, committee meetings, etc. For this, MPs are given travel money to and from the session. If an MP is absent from a session for less than 15 days, he gets travel allowance.

What facilities are available for travel?

Apart from this, MPs get the facility of free travel in the first class coach of the railway for some journeys and there are some rules regarding the family as well. In this, family members also get concession on some journeys. At the same time, steamer facility is given to the MPs of Andaman Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep. There are many conditions for exemption regarding travel, according to which MPs get exemption. Along with this, every MP also gets money for his office expenses. According to the official website, each MP is given Rs 20,000, Rs 4,000 for stationery, Rs 2,000 for letters and money for staff. At the same time, each MP is given two fastags for toll exemption, one for Delhi vehicles and one for vehicles of their area. This will allow them to travel without toll. Also, MPs get access or protocol to many places, where the common man is kept away.

Benefit in daily allowance

Overall, an MP gets Rs 1 lakh as salary, about Rs 70 thousand as constituency allowance, about Rs 60 thousand as office expenses and daily allowance. Apart from this, travel allowance, housing and medical facilities are given separately. MPs are allotted accommodation on the basis of their seniority.
